Aircraft airworthiness

Airworthiness The term “airworthy” is important to understand when seeking an FAA aircraft certification. The definition is not published in the regulations, but FAA case law has identified two conditions that must be met for an aircraft to be considered airworthy. An aircraft which conforms to its "type certificate data sheet" and is "in a condition for safe operation,” is considered to be " airworthy " (the FAA only recently defined this condition clearly). A standard airworthiness certificate is an airworthiness certificate issued for an aircraft by the national aviation authority in the state in which the aircraft is registered. A standard airworthiness certificate is one of the certificates that are mandatory if an aircraft is to be used in commercial operations. One essential measure of airworthiness is that the aircraft conforms to all aspects of the TC, STC, and any approved alteration documentation. In the simplest terms, this means that the aircraft still retains all the original characteristics upon which it was designed.

The Advanced Master covers both the technical aspects of certification and the legal and economic implications. 2013-03-13 In a previous post, I explained the very basic concept of airworthiness in general. In this article, I will focus specifically on the airworthiness of aircraft and I’ll try to go through the most important airworthiness data that is required to keep an aircraft airworthy at all times.
